With Christmas coming, one of my sizzix dies, which cuts out tags, has been used extensively. As a result, I have noticed that the cutting blade is not as effective as I would like and I need to put few sheets of card through at a time to ensure a neat cut edge.
I therefore decided to investigate to see if there was a way I could ‘sharpen the sizzix die blade’ or at least pro-long its use. The good news is that you can!
I have tried the following method on my sizzix tag die & it has definitely improved its cutting ability.
You need a couple of basic household items:
- Foil (thicker the better, but you can get the same result by doubling up standard household foil)
- Wax or parchment paper
Instructions:
- Use your sizzix machine & die in the usual way to first cut a reasonable thickness of foil. Do this 3 or 4 times. This ‘sharpens the blade’
- Next, use the die to cut the wax or parchment paper a couple of times. This ‘re-oils’ the blade
That’s it.
Happy Crafting!
